Adele's Musical Journey

The Musical sensation, whom we all know simply as "Adele" was born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins on May 5, 1988 in Tottenham, North London, England. She began singing at the age of four and shortly after graduating from school in 2006, Adele recorded a three song demo, which she shared with a friend of hers. Obviously impressed, her friend posted the recordings on MySpace. Her music struck a cord with viewers on MySpace and it wasn't long before she received a phone call from a Top UK music label, XL Recordings.

For Adele, this all seemed unlikely and unheard of that anyone would be contacted by a Top music label after a simple posting of 3 demo songs on MySpace. Doubtful that the offer was real, Adele asked her friend to accompany her to the meeting. It must have felt surreal when she signed the offer in September 2006.

One year later, in October 2007, Adele released her debut song "Hometown Glory" which she had written herself when she was just 16 years old. She was named Critics' Choice at the BRIT Awards in 2008. Her next release was "Chasing Pavements" which soon reached number 2 on the UK Charts and this set the scene for the release of her Debut Album, Adele 19 later that year.

When you listen to this Album, it is incredible to think that the "19" in the title, represents her age when she cut this Album. Adele has a Powerful voice that captivates your Soul and Adele 19 is destined to become a memorable classic for Adele followers - the record that set the stage for her.

Later that year, Adele signed a joint venture deal with Columbia Records and XL Recordings, setting the stage for her release into the US Market in June 2008.

On a personal note, like many 19 - 21 year-olds, Adele went through a brief period of rebellion around this time. Referring to a USA tour that she cancelled in order to be with her boyfriend, she referred also to her view that her drinking was excessive at times.

With all of this rebellion going on, and tours being cancelled, Adele's foray into the market seemed doomed. But, once again, fate was on her side - she joined Sarah Palin on an episode of Saturday Night Live which was viewed by 17 Million people and from the next day sales of her Album, Adele 19, sky-rocketed, quickly scaling the Billboard 200 Chart. Sonn after this, Adele seemed to get a better handle on her personal affairs, moved out of her mother's house and gave up drinking.

Adele 19 went Gold in 2009. No wonder that in 2009, Adele took home a pair of Grammy Awards-including Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Adele was also nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Now, more than 2 years later, Adele 19 remains near the top of Bestseller lists Worldwide.

Adele released her second album, Adele 21 in 2011. Adele 21 has sold 12 Million copies and counting, making Adele the top-selling artist in the UK in 2011. This is a hauntingly beautiful Album, that will inspire and engage you from start to finish. The Album includes songs such as "Someone Like You", "Set Fire to the Rain" and "Rolling in the Deep". Her voice is True and Sultry, and the Album presents itself as music from the heart.

Her music is magnificent, transcending age & generations, appealing equally to younger and older listeners.

Adele 21 hit #1 Just about Everywhere, right across Europe and the UK, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. After an emotional performance at the BRIT awards in February 2011, the sales of "Someone Like You" went straight to number one on the UK Singles Chart. The black and white video of this song was filmed in Paris and in about two weeks, it gained more than 8 million views and the views. the YouTube views haven't stopped since.

Adele performed Live at the Royal Albert Hall on 22 September 2011, wrapping up an incredible year for this outstanding British Singer-Songwriter that has taken the World Music industry by Storm!
